Applications of No-Limit Hold'em (Janda) — teaches thinking in ranges. Every Hand Revealed (Gus Hansen) — a hand-by-hand tournament diary. Small Stakes No-Limit Hold'em — the most practical for low stakes. Practice alongside the preflop chart and positions.
The Mathematics of Poker — heavy but foundational. Kill Everyone — short stacks, push-fold and bubble pressure. Harrington Vol. II-III — still the best stage-by-stage reference. Pair with ICM and tournament strategy.
The Mental Game of Poker 1-2 (Jared Tendler) — the book most winning players credit for saving their career. Elements of Poker (Tommy Angelo) — short and sharp on tilt. Essential background: bankroll management.
Month 1: Essential Poker Math plus preflop charts. Month 2: Harrington Vol. I. Month 3: Small Stakes NLHE and 5,000 practice hands. Month 4: The Mental Game of Poker. Months 5-6: Applications of NLHE or Modern Poker Theory alongside 10,000 hands and review. Reading without playing does not work — open an account and play as you read.
